Skin and Mole Check Review in Six Out of Ten

Getting a cancer check with Dr Ross Perry

London lifestyle website visited Dr Ross Perry in his Harley Street clinic for a full top to toe skin and mole check.

Sixoutoften.co.uk describes itself as:

“It’s a place where honest reviews meet informative content, with a little light-hearted fun along the way.”

David met Dr Ross Perry to review his numerous moles.

As David explains:

“The typical person can have in excess of 50-60 moles on their body, and 49-59 of them are harmless. It’s the ones that are a deeper black colour that should prompt a visit to a specialist. Of course, knowing the general size and shape of existing moles can be difficult, but it’s essential to ensure any abnormalities can be checked over.”

The consultation started with a review of David’s medical history to establish whether he was at risk. Sun exposure is commonly understood to be a major factor in skin cancer, but there are other issues which can increase a person’s risk too – including genetics, skin type, age, certain immunosuppressant medications and substances.

After discussion of the potential risk factors, it was time to review his moles. Cosmedics offer a top to toe mole check which studies and documents all the moles. David reviewed the experience:

“Dr Perry started by combing through my hair, using a Sherlock Holmes style magnifying glass (I’m sure it was more high-tech than that) before working down my arms, torso and legs. There was one in the middle of my back he advised me to keep an on, but otherwise, I got a clean bill of health. It felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders, and I know Laura would be pleased to know I was checked over. He was ever so friendly and explained exactly what he was doing, and why, and all-in-all it took around 30 minutes or so.

“After the consult, I chatted to Dr Perry about skin cancer and our attitude towards it. He believes many cases go undetected for too long, not least because we don’t know what we’re looking for. Couple that with a reluctance – especially amongst men – to get anything suspicious checked out, and it’s easy to see how a perfect storm is on the horizon.

“Cases of skin cancer are on the increase and are predicted to boom in the next 10-15 years. And that’s exactly what 30 minutes out of your life for a mole check is nothing. It could be the 30 minutes that saves your life. If you’d like to book a check, choose a clinic and give it a go.”

Mole Checks

Cosmedics Skin Clinics’ doctors offer full mole checks at their London and Bristol clinics. This is the most comprehensive review of moles and is designed to flag up anything suspicious.

A normal mole consultation is a shorter appointment to focus simply on the specific mole that a patient is concerned to have removed.

Private Mole Removal

Cosmedics’ Skin Surgery Laser Clinics offer private mole removal at a selection of clinics based in London and Bristol. Moles are removed using the latest surgical techniques including laser mole removal; with trained doctors and surgeons.
