If you’ve already tried the chemists’ remedies at home to no avail, it may simply be that the wart is too resistant. There is a limit to the strength of chemical or freezing agent that can be sold for use by the general public.

Even with professional treatments, patients are warned about the risk of the wart coming back.
However, these are stronger treatments than available over the counter and have a much higher chance of success.
Doctors may either warn the patient that a course of freezing/cryotherapy or laser may be required – or else in the case of very stubborn and resistant warts, surgery is always available as a last resort.
